Anthrocon Parade in Downtown Pittsburgh Brings Joy to Locals and Visitors

Pittsburgh’s Anthrocon Parade Draws Large Crowds

The annual Anthrocon Parade took place in downtown Pittsburgh on Saturday, attracting large crowds of locals and visitors alike. The parade, which featured participants dressed in furry costumes, began at 2 p.m. on Penn Avenue and marked a highlight of this year’s Anthrocon convention, touted as the largest yet. So many attendees showed up that for the first time, organizers were unable to capture a group photo.

Among the enthusiastic crowd were families and sports fans, including Rich Kuller and Maurice Segall, who were in town for a Pirates-Mets game at PNC Park. They stumbled upon the parade and expressed their delight at mingling with the furry community, taking selfies and enjoying the festive atmosphere. “Pittsburgh is now our favorite city,” they both agreed.

Other attendees included Aiyla Komorofski, who dressed up with bunny ears and blue face paint, and William Kofalt, who attended with his rescue dog, Daisy, dressed as a Dalmatian. Kofalt noted the challenge of staying cool in a fur suit amid the warm temperatures and emphasized the importance of hydration.

The parade concluded with an outdoor block party, and the Anthrocon convention is set to wrap up with a closing ceremony on Sunday.
