Hackers allege Disney data breach in response to AI-generated art

Hacktivists from a group called NullBulge have claimed to have stolen over a terabyte of data from Disney’s internal chat platform. They are leaking the information online in protest against what they perceive as the company’s anti-artist stance. The group, which has been active since at least May, aims to protect artists’ rights and ensure fair compensation for their work. NullBulge published Disney’s internal Slack channel online through the BitTorrent filesharing platform. Despite not seeking financial rewards, some cybersecurity experts question the group’s true motives. NullBulge claims to have breached Disney’s network through a video game modification tool. Their website features a mission statement outlining their beliefs against promoting cryptocurrencies, AI-generated artwork, and theft from artists. The group’s mascot is an anthropomorphic lion covered in blue slime. In a statement to the Wall Street Journal, NullBulge mentioned releasing the data immediately as they believed making demands of Disney would be ineffective.
